Gina Donner's artistic journey is characterized by a fusion of abstract and figurative elements reflecting the emotions and energies intertwined with and expressed through the body.
Transparent layers, gentle color gradients, and curved body forms are central to her visual language. The figures appear inward-looking, bending into each other, overlapping, and forming new structures in which they hold, complement, and support one another. Boundaries between the individual and the community dissolve and transform into movements that overlap and flow into one another in a shared rhythm.
Thus, the bodies appear permeable – blurring the boundaries between inside and outside, stillness and movement, dream and reality.
Gina Donner (b. 1993, Potsdam) studied literature and philosophy at the Humboldt University in Berlin. She lives and works in Berlin.
